A Personal Note on the Holidays

The holiday season is here, celebrated in many different ways, with many different traditions. Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas and others less well known, but not any less important. I felt very compelled to celebrate the Solstice this year by honoring Mother Earth, joining others across the world as we all offered our contributions to peace and to the sacred. And last night the full moon shared her beauty as the night sky was as bright as day, illuminated by the powerful reflection of the moon’s light.

Have we forgotten to see the beauty that surrounds us? Especially at this time of year, when so many are rushing around trying to find the perfect gifts, planning the perfect meals or presenting the perfect holiday parties as we all gather together with high expectations for these outcomes. Because of my gifts, I can feel the anxieties of others as they scurry about trying to live up to the advertiser’s portrayal of the perfect holiday gathering.

I think about those who have nowhere to go, perhaps have no home or money to even participate. How must they feel at this time of year? Yes, there are avenues for giving to those who have less and many are generous with their time and their money to help others. And I honor the generosity of those who reach out to lift up others this time of year.

But once again, I question how we focus so much on physical giving rather than honoring the sacredness of life. Not only the lives of those we love, but the life of the Mother, who gives to us daily without charge. Can we begin to offer gratitude for all the gifts we have received in order to even live our lives here upon this physical plane? I think of climate change, deforestation, pollution and the pervasive fear of lack and feel we can do a better job of honoring the Mother.

This is a time of awakening and change and I know that many of you are feeling it, even though you may not be conscious of exactly what is happening to you. For those of you who are facing challenges in your personal life at this time, I repeat what I am told so often, that you are not alone because you are connected to all of creation. This includes your connection to the Mother and all of her creatures.

Life is sacred, all of life. And I encourage you to live your life authentically and with that personal power we so often give away to others. The physical possessions we own do not matter as much as the love that surrounds us. We have so much to give and I hope that you can give and accept love in your daily life. Often the quiet, unassuming actions of generosity and love go unnoticed. Look around you and share from that deep reservoir of love which exists within you.

Holiday traditions are wonderful and can be a part of life to which we look forward every year. I know that I have many fond memories of family traditions throughout my life. But please know that love is the basis of our existence. Honor the love that surrounds you, love that comes from those around you, from the Mother and from the unseen world.

The pendulum of life has swung far to the side of fear and it is time to begin to bring it back to center. It is possible and is occurring as many are quietly doing their part to eradicate fear and bring peace back into our way of life.

You are a part of this awakening and I ask you to take time to give gratitude for all that has been given to you. Share your loving nature with others and most importantly with yourself. For you have come so far and have so much further to go on your personal journey.

If you need some quiet time to reflect and replenish, then do so.

If you feel the need to change your traditions because they no longer serve you, then do so.

If you are feeling alone and forgotten, please know that you are not.

We are in this together, this human existence and love will move us forward and see us through.

I send out my love to each and every one of you in hopes that you can feel the joy of life every day of your existence. And I offer my gratitude to all of you for what you are doing to change this world.

Thank you for allowing me this space to ramble and reflect. And thank you for continuing to follow this blog.

I wish you all peace and joy and a gentle path forward. May we all do what we can to honor each other and the Mother.

With deepest love

Celine

I agree with you 100%. My ‘traditions’ are very fluid. No two years are the same. I’m having a secular celebration with several different faiths and some with no affiliations whatever. We celebrated the Solstice and I took wonderful photos of that perfect moon. Kindness is what I celebrate. I know of several people that are alone this holiday and thought to invite. One attacks all differences and one is antisocial. I’m happy to have anyone at my table with an open and accepting heart. I just say a prayer for the rest. We do need to respect the life we are gifted with as it’s the greatest gift of all. None other matter. A little more breath is all I asked for. Seems enough. 😉 Have a wonderfilled holiday, Celine.
